Overview

Read this document prior to installing the Totalview 2016 SP1 server, clients and connectors.

This document describes how to get started installing Totalview 2016 SP1, how to get started using Totalview 2016 SP1, the structure of the documentation and where you can get additional information.

Getting started installing Totalview 2016 SP1

The document Totalview 2016 SP1 Installation and Upgrade guide.pdf describes how to install or upgrade the Totalview 2016 SP1 server.

The Totalview 2016 SP1 server can be upgraded from prior versions of Totalview 2016 SP1 or from Totalview 2.

When upgrading from Totalview 2 you can migrate some of the information stored in the Totalview 2 database (see the Totalview 2016 SP1 Installation and Upgrade guide.pdf for more information).

When installing/upgrading, an optional demo database can be installed. The demo database is used in the documentation examples.

 

Getting started using Totalview 2016 SP1

After installing a new Totalview 2016 SP1 server or upgrading from Totalview 2, you have to install a server license to be able to use Totalview 2016 SP1.

With Admin you control all the Totalview 2016 SP1 settings and behaviour. Manage resources and their details, create and install connectors, manage states, etc.

Admin also describes the behaviour of the Totalview 2016 SP1 server – state behaviour, connector settings, license control, etc.

After using Admin to install the license and setting up the Totalview 2016 SP1 server, the User guide describes how to use the Switchboard, Receptionist and Client. The User guide also contains description of how to create appointments in Exchange to be synchronized with Totalview 2016 SP1 and how to use SMS to interact with Totalview 2016 SP1.
